Through his years as a mental health physician, Grant Mullen observed the many issues that robbed joy from people. He was able to walk many to recovery, so they could discover joy, usually for the first time in their lives. Kathy Mullen is a prayer minister and she has spent years exposing and removing the root causes of joylessness.

At the Discover Joy weekend, you will uncover the joy stealers in your life. You will understand how mental, spiritual and emotional issues rob your joy, and affect how you think, feel and relate to others. You will learn the pathway to resolve those issues and experience the joy you’ve always wanted.

The Prairie Hope Women’s Centre

In 1958, Pastor David Wilkerson reached out to troubled street youth in New York City. Today, Teen Challenge is a 12-month, faith-based, residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is part of a network of over 13 Teen Challenge Centres across Canada and more than 1,100 worldwide.

The program has a strong faith-based approach, and offers spiritual, academic and vocational training that helps equip individuals to return to society as responsible citizens.

To help more women trapped in the vicious cycle of addiction, in 2019 they are opening the Prairie Hope Women’s Centre in Hague, SK. It will have room for 26 women, and include dorms, a chapel, classrooms, a dining hall, counselling spaces, and provisions for recreation, exercise, and work.

Good News Chapel Unexpected Expense

Good News Chapel, a ministry in North Central Regina, recently incurred a large unexpected expense.

They have a fifteen-passenger van that they use to pick up individuals and families who would not be otherwise able to attend church, for visits to the reserve they minister on, and for other church activities.

Unfortunately, a bearing broke and destroyed the transmission in the van. Thankfully, they were able to get it fixed quickly, but the expense of approximately $4,500 still needs to be covered. If you feel led to give towards this need, you can do so at www.goodnewschapel.ca/donate.

The Glen Elm Church of Christ is again hosting the Regina Christmas Wish List – an opportunity for citizens of Regina to express care and compassion during the Christmas season.

The project works like this:

Local organizations, working with the impoverished and marginalized of our city, identify individuals and families within their circles, and create concise stories which are posted to the website.
Caring citizens read these stories, pledge gifts, and purchase the items they have pledged (new items only), which they then deliver to Glen Elm Church of Christ (1825 Rothwell St., Regina) by 5:00 p.m. on December 19.
The gifts are forwarded on to the partnering organizations, who place them in the hands of the clients they identified.
